Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its expanding team in Paramus, NJ. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a motivated individual with a background in personal injury litigation or insurance defense, and a passion for delivering exceptional legal services to clients. Duties:

• Handle a range of insurance defense and personal injury litigation cases from initiation through resolution.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and handle law and motion practice.
• Take depositions and represent clients in hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements and manage client communications throughout the litigation process.
• Develop strategies for handling complex legal cases and ensure effective case management.
• Work as part of a team, coordinating with other attorneys and staff to meet clients' needs.
• For partner-level candidates, oversee and manage cases, mentor junior attorneys, and contribute to the firm's business development efforts.

Requirements:

• 3-10+ years of experience in insurance defense or personal injury litigation.
• Proven experience with civil litigation, including motion practice, depositions, and hearings.
• Strong client communication and settlement negotiation skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• For partner-level candidates, demonstrated leadership experience in managing cases and teams.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership and good standing with the New Jersey Bar (Required).
• Active membership and good standing with the New York Bar (Preferred).

Skills:

• Expertise in insurance defense and personal injury litigation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in legal research and the use of industry-standard legal software.
• Ability to take on complex litigation cases and manage a high caseload effectively.
• Familiarity with settlement negotiation techniques and legal strategy development.
