A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm or clerking experience, and exceptional problem-solving, writing, and communication skills. The role requires expertise in litigation involving commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability. The ideal candidate will also have proven courtroom experience, including taking and defending depositions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in financial services litigation matters, including those involving commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability.
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including taking and defending depositions, managing discovery, and preparing witnesses.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Appear in court to present evidence, argue motions, and manage trial proceedings.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to develop case strategies and support legal arguments.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and arbitration as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to develop and execute effective case strategies.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure adherence to court deadlines and procedural requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience or substantial clerkship experience, with a focus on financial services, commercial real estate, and distressed loans.
  • Demonstrated experience in taking and defending depositions and managing courtroom activities.
  • Strong academic credentials with a proven track record of excellent problem-solving, writing, and communication skills.
