Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Attorney to join its King of Prussia, PA office. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of municipal collections cases, including unpaid real estate taxes and municipal utility fees. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive work environment and contribute to a dynamic team that has long-standing success in the field of municipal collections.

Location:

  • King of Prussia, PA

Duties:

  • Conduct meaningful attorney reviews of files to determine and implement next steps in the collection process under senior staff supervision.
  • Review and sign pleadings, and resolve any issues where pleadings are not ready to be filed.
  • Ensure that debt validation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is met and diary files appropriately for the next steps.
  • Review files to ascertain whether notice requirements under 53 P.S. §7106 are met.
  • Review and sign legal demand letters, resolving any issues where they are not ready to be mailed.
  • Ensure proper service of the writ of scire facias according to the Rules of Civil Procedure, and prepare, review, and sign Rule 237.1 notices for intent to enter default judgment.
  • Communicate with counsel and property owners by phone and/or email as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, including the Municipal Claims and Tax Liens Act, 53 P.S. §7101, et seq., the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act (FCEUA).
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a Pennsylvania License.

Certifications:

  • Pennsylvania Bar Admission (Required).
