Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney with experience in single plaintiff employment litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts. The role involves handling cases from start to finish, including discovery, depositions, law and motion work, mediations, and trial preparation. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on complex cases in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Defend single plaintiff claims for harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination in both state and federal courts.
  • Represent clients in complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Provide general employment-related advice and counsel to clients.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Manage law and motion work, including preparing and responding to dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, and discovery-related motions.
  • Prepare case evaluations for clients and offer strategic advice.
  • Proactively manage and handle cases from inception through resolution.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Gain valuable experience in arbitration and trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in single plaintiff employment litigation.
  • Experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts.
  • Experience handling complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Expertise in preparing and responding to discovery requests and motions.
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions.
  • Arbitration and trial experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
