Job Title: Environmental Partner

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking an experienced Environmental Partner to join their well-established Environmental practice group. This role involves providing expert counsel on environmental matters related to real estate transactions, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental law, particularly in areas impacting industries such as manufacturing, real estate, and renewable energy.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on environmental components of complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, and corporate restructurings.
  • Draft and negotiate environmental representations, warranties, covenants, indemnities, and related contractual provisions.
  • Offer regulatory guidance on environmental compliance and permitting matters.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other high-level transactions.
  • Advise clients on both pre-and post-closing environmental compliance and permitting concerns.
  • Collaborate with clients, partners, environmental consultants, and governmental agencies to ensure adherence to environmental laws.
  • Deliver high-quality legal counsel while maintaining strong communication at all levels.
  • Stay updated on legal developments in environmental law and enhance expertise through continuous learning.
  • Network within the industry and build relationships with clients and stakeholders to develop business opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience practicing environmental law, focusing on real estate and corporate transactions.
  • Proven track record of handling complex environmental legal issues in various sectors such as manufacturing, real estate, and renewable energy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in Michigan, Illinois, or Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission through waiver.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for environmental law.
