Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Chicago is looking to hire a Family Law Attorney to join their growing team. This full-time role involves handling family law cases from inception through settlement or trial, providing exceptional client service, and collaborating with other attorneys and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload with confidentiality and professionalism.

Duties:

  • Manage family law cases from start to finish, ensuring efficient progression to settlement or trial
  • Advise clients on legal matters, helping them make informed decisions about their cases
  • Represent clients in court, both in-person and via virtual platforms
  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as motions, judgments, settlement agreements, and pretrial memorandums
  • Conduct discovery processes, including depositions, document review, and interrogatories
  • Provide consultations to potential clients regarding legal matters and representation options
  • Maintain a high level of organization, managing multiple cases and deadlines concurrently

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the Illinois Bar with good standing
  • 1-5 years of experience in family law litigation
  • Strong legal research skills, particularly using Westlaw
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a collaborative team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio) is a plus, but not required
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain client confidentiality
