A law firm seeks an experienced and knowledgeable healthcare attorney to join its team in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will possess 8-15 years of expertise in healthcare law, specializing in the defense of medical professionals such as physicians, dentists, and nurses before review boards. This role involves handling complex health law issues, including Stark and antikickback claims, Medicaid and Medicare fraud defenses, drafting physician employment agreements, and advising on the buying and selling of medical practices.

Duties:

  • Represent physicians, dentists, and other healthcare professionals in disciplinary proceedings and before relevant boards.
  • Defend clients in Stark Law and anti-kickback statute cases.
  • Manage defense strategies for Medicaid and Medicare fraud claims.
  • Draft and negotiate physician employment contracts, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Advise on legal matters related to the purchase and sale of medical practices and interests.
  • Provide expert guidance on general health law defense.
  • Collaborate with senior legal team members and clients to formulate defense strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare laws and regulations to ensure the firm’s defense strategies remain compliant.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in healthcare law, with a strong focus on defending medical professionals.
  • Experience with Stark Law, anti-kickback laws, Medicaid/Medicare fraud defense, and healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation matters and represent clients effectively before legal boards.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic background with relevant coursework or focus in health law.

Certifications:

  • Board certification in health law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is preferred but not required.
  • Active membership in the state bar (Maryland or eligibility for admission).
