A law firm seeks an Environmental Law Associate to join its practice in Melville, NY. This role involves providing strategic legal counsel in environmental matters, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and risk management strategies.
  • Represent clients in litigation involving environmental issues, including contaminated property disputes and CERCLA/RCRA cases.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and advise on managing liability in transactions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, such as contracts, memos, and briefs, related to environmental matters.
  • Develop innovative and practical solutions to complex environmental and regulatory challenges.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure client objectives are achieved efficiently.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in environmental law.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CERCLA, RCRA, or similar environmental statutes.
  • Experience in property remediation, risk transfer, or energy and regulatory law is preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage tasks independently while thriving in a team-oriented setting.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with preference for candidates eligible to practice in New York.
