Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Guardianship Attorney to manage and assist with guardianship and conservatorship matters. This position is ideal for attorneys with 1-5 years of experience in family law, particularly in the area of guardianships and conservatorships for minors and incapacitated adults. The attorney will provide legal guidance to clients, manage complex documentation, and represent clients in contested cases.

Location:

  • Las Vegas, NV

Duties:

  • Assist clients with establishing and administering guardianships and conservatorships for minors and incapacitated adults
  • Prepare and file petitions, reports, and accountings required for judicial approval and compliance
  • Advise clients on guardianship responsibilities, fiduciary duties, and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Provide legal guidance on alternatives to guardianship, such as powers of attorney and trusts
  • Assist clients with planning for incapacity and special needs care
  • Structure guardianship plans addressing financial management, healthcare decisions, and living arrangements
  • Represent clients in contested guardianship cases, including disputes over capacity, fitness of guardians, and fiduciary actions
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve conflicts through mediation and arbitration
  • Draft and review petitions, orders, annual reports, and care plans
  • Prepare legal correspondence, motions, and settlement agreements
  • Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in all legal documentation

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in Nevada
  • Strong knowledge of Nevada guardianship law and procedures
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and research skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Nevada

Skills:
