Job Overview

A reputable law firm is seeking an Associate Trial Attorney to represent clients in personal injury cases throughout the arbitration and trial processes. The role involves managing cases from investigation through resolution, with appearances in District and Superior Courts.

Duties

  • Provide legal advice to clients on personal injury matters, including conducting legal research and explaining complex legal concepts
  • Develop case strategies by reviewing investigative findings, police reports, and medical records, and consulting with experts
  • Handle the discovery process, including taking and defending depositions
  • Prepare legal briefs, develop case arguments, and strategize on witness testimony
  • Resolve cases through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial, presenting arguments and examining witnesses as needed
  • Engage expert witnesses and prepare evidence for presentation in court
  • Monitor case progress, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met and suggesting process improvements as necessary

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of personal injury litigation experience in North Carolina
  • Strong understanding of personal injury law and trial preparation
  • Excellent research, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage cases independently and effectively

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active admission to the North Carolina State Bar in good standing
  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar is preferred but not required

Skills

  • Proficiency in case management, legal research, and litigation procedures within personal injury law
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, trial-oriented environment
