A law firm in Mountain View, CA, is seeking an IP Life Sciences Patent Agent with a strong background in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or related fields. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the firm's life sciences practice, focusing on patent prosecution and strategic intellectual property counsel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the life sciences sector, collaborating closely with attorneys and clients.
• Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Assist in managing and developing patent portfolios for life sciences innovations.
• Participate in due diligence investigations for intellectual property transactions.
• Stay abreast of developments in patent laws and regulations affecting the life sciences industry.
• Communicate effectively with clients, scientists, and legal professionals regarding patent matters.

Requirements:

• PhD or MD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, oncology, or a related scientific field.
• Post-doctoral research experience is desirable.
• USPTO registration number in good standing.
• Superior academic credentials with a proven track record of research achievements.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience:

• 1+ years of legal practice experience, preferably within a law firm, specializing in patent prosecution in the life sciences sector.
• Familiarity with patent drafting, prosecution procedures, and intellectual property strategy specific to life sciences innovations.
