Patent Prosecution & Litigation Associate - Electrical Engineering & Software

Location:

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patents in electrical engineering, software, and related technological fields.
• Handle patent litigation matters, including conducting discovery, preparing motions, and trial preparation.
• Collaborate with clients to develop effective patent portfolio strategies and provide legal advice on patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate issues.
• Offer legal counsel on IP matters, including patent drafting and patent prosecution strategy.
• Engage in strategic discussions with clients regarding IP matters and litigation risk management.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in IP, particularly patent prosecution and litigation, in the areas of electrical engineering, software, or computer science.
• Design engineering experience, particularly in chip companies, is a plus.
• Experience with networking, software, and wireless technologies such as 3G/4G/5G is preferred.
• Candidates must be admitted to the USPTO.
• Associate and Patent Agent candidates must have 2-6 years of relevant legal experience.
• Associate candidates must be licensed to practice law or have the ability to become licensed in the state of employment. Bar licensure in California is advantageous.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent academic credentials and strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Education:

• A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is required.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO is required.
• Associates must be licensed to practice law or demonstrate the ability to be licensed promptly.
