Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a talented and motivated Fintech and Global Payments Associate Attorney to join their team in New York City. This role focuses on navigating the evolving landscape of financial services regulation, with a particular emphasis on fintech, digital assets, and global payments. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience, strong academic credentials, and a keen interest in working on cutting-edge legal issues in the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on federal and state regulatory matters concerning financial services and payments.
  • Provide legal counsel on fintech-related matters, including digital assets, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency regulation.
  • Assist clients in navigating complex regulatory frameworks involving federal and state banking laws.
  • Support clients with compliance issues, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Work on regulatory licensing issues, including money transmission and other financial services licensure requirements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to fintech and global payments, including service agreements and partnerships.
  • Stay updated on emerging legal developments in fintech and digital assets to provide proactive legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters.
  • Represent clients in front of federal and state regulatory agencies, as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of legal experience in financial services, fintech, or related areas.
  • Strong familiarity with federal and state banking regulations, including the Dodd-Frank Act, Bank Holding Company Act, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) guidelines.
  • Experience or interest in digital asset-related projects, including blockchain and cryptocurrency.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex regulatory issues and provide practical legal advice.
  • Experience working with financial institutions, fintech startups, or payment processors is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to clients.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials (Top 25% of class preferred).

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and solve legal problems in innovative ways.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in legal work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
