A law firm in Birmingham is seeking a seasoned Litigation Associate Attorney with 5+ years of experience, preferably in litigation with a focus on foreclosure matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various litigation matters, attending mediations, trials, and hearings, and performing legal research and writing. The role also involves taking and defending depositions, drafting legal documents, participating in marketing initiatives, maintaining licensing, and continuing legal education requirements.

 

Job Details:

  • Handle various litigation matters for the firm.
  • Attend mediations, trials, and hearings, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform legal research and writing.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, proposed orders, correspondence, memoranda, and opinion letters.
  • Travel on an as-needed basis.
  • Write articles and make presentations to clients, trade associations, and ICLE.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Member of the Alabama and Georgia Bar, maintaining all necessary licensing and continuing legal education requirements.
  • Litigation experience in GA preferred.
  • Title experience is preferred.
  • Well-versed in the rules of evidence, introducing evidence, and civil procedure in both state and federal court.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency with Fastcase or Westlaw.

 

Skills:

  • 5+ years of litigation experience, foreclosure experience a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with all members of the group.
  • Proficient in software tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
