A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Consumer Debt Defense Attorney to join its fully remote team in Illinois. This position focuses on providing effective legal representation and guidance to clients facing debt-collection lawsuits.

Duties

  • Manage debt settlement files and offer limited-scope legal assistance to clients.
  • Conduct client consultations to assess their needs and provide strategic advice.
  • Oversee settlement negotiations and ensure proper documentation is in place.
  • Review and approve pro se answer drafts prepared by paralegals.
  • Represent clients formally in cases until resolution, ensuring a smooth process.
  • Maintain communication with clients to clarify the debt resolution process.
  • Participate in court hearings as needed, with the option to request local counsel for coverage.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar Association.
  • A minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience is required.
  • Preferred experience in consumer debt defense and/or collections.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Valid license to practice law in the state of Illinois.

Skills
