Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in land use matters, advocating before municipal and governmental planning and zoning boards.
  • Guide clients through local, regional, and state regulations and processes about land development.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage applications and related documentation for land use approvals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders.
  • Offer comprehensive legal counsel on property and land development issues, addressing potential legal risks and challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all client expectations and case requirements are met.
  • Monitor and guide legislative changes that could impact client interests.
  • Lead and participate in public hearings, meetings, and negotiations to secure necessary project approvals.
  • Draft, review, and revise agreements, contracts, and other legal documents related to land use matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possesses between 5-15 years of relevant experience advocating for clients in land use cases and managing appearances before zoning boards and government agencies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of affordable housing laws and regulations, including Mt. Laurel requirements, is a desirable asset.
  • Holds superior academic qualifications, demonstrating strong legal research and analytical capabilities.
  • Has a proven track record of excellent written and oral advocacy skills, contributing to successful case outcomes.

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of New Jersey and in good standing.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certifications or additional training in land use law, municipal law, or related fields are a plus.
