Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an entry-level Workers' Compensation Attorney to join its office in Brooklyn, NY. This position is ideal for a motivated attorney who is passionate about defending the rights of New Yorkers and has a strong desire to work in Workers' Compensation law. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage a high caseload, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.

Location:

  • Brooklyn, NY

Duties:

  • Handle a substantial caseload related to Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Conduct opening and closing arguments, direct and cross-examine witnesses, and manage case records.
  • File necessary appeals, rebuttals, and summations in Workers' Compensation cases.
  • Travel between boroughs, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, as needed for court appearances.
  • Maintain detailed familiarity with each case and manage all aspects of the legal process for clients.
  • Provide compassionate legal representation to claimants dealing with difficult circumstances.

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Bar.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a significant caseload.
  • Understanding of legal principles and Workers' Compensation law.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, or Creole is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to commute to Brooklyn, NY, or relocate before starting work.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in or knowledge of Workers' Compensation law is preferred but not required.
