The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory and corporate insurance law and substantial experience forming companies, contracting for reinsurance agreements, and advising on regulatory compliance matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on regulatory and corporate insurance matters, including company formation and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance, program, and broker agreements.
  • Assist in forming captive insurance companies and provide ongoing regulatory compliance advice.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex regulatory issues and provide clear, concise guidance to clients.
  • Represent clients in interactions with state insurance departments and other regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in.
  • 3-5 years of experience in regulatory and corporate law, preferably at a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience forming companies, contracting for reinsurance agreements, and drafting and negotiating program and broker agreements.
  • Proven track record of advising on the formation of captive insurance companies and regulatory compliance matters.
