Job Overview:

A prominent national plaintiff-side law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its Traverse City, Michigan office. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation, particularly in cases related to school- and institution-related violence, wrongful death, personal injury, civil rights, and commercial litigation. This position offers an opportunity to work on high-profile, precedent-setting cases involving victims of violence, sexual abuse, and other serious claims. The role involves significant client interaction, trial work, and potential travel.

Location:

Duties:

  • Handle litigation representing victims of school- and institution-related violence, including school shootings, fraternity hazing, sexual violence, and church abuse.
  • Work on wrongful death, catastrophic personal injury, civil rights, Title IX, and commercial impact litigation.
  • Take primary and co-responsibility for high-profile cases, including trial preparation and court appearances.
  • Conduct legal research and writing to support cases.
  • Manage case files and handle case progression from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct depositions and engage in discovery.
  • Out-of-state travel may be required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in civil litigation, particularly plaintiff-side litigation.
  • Strong trial and courtroom experience.
  • Ability to manage complex, high-profile cases with attention to detail.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan, or ability to become licensed in Michigan.

Skills:
