Job Overview: A law firm in Rockville, MD, seeks a dedicated Family Law Litigation Attorney who will professionally manage cases, provide exceptional legal advice to clients, and uphold ethical standards in all legal proceedings. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills, a commitment to continuing legal education, and the ability to develop effective case strategies.

Duties:

  • Bill 1550 hours toward client matters each year.
  • Manage family law cases within the firm's established policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear and comprehensive legal advice to clients, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Develop strategies for clients' cases, taking full ownership of their resolution.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, trial memoranda, motions, and agreements.
  • Conduct detailed legal research to support case strategies.
  • Review discovery responses, financial statements, and evaluations when considering case strategy.
  • Present persuasive arguments in court during trials, hearings, and settlement discussions.
  • Lead negotiations and mediation on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to address clients' needs, assigning clear tasks and deadlines.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions and legal proceedings.
  • Stay updated on family law statutes and precedents, remaining informed of changes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing legal education.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland.
  • The ideal candidate will also be licensed in DC and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to develop effective case strategies based on client goals.
  • Comfortable in a courtroom, projecting confidence and competence.
  • Skill in setting and managing client expectations.
  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • State Bar admission in Maryland, with additional DC and/or Virginia preferred.

Skills:

  • Legal drafting and research skills.
  • Negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in time management and calendar utilization.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
