Job Title: Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney

Job Overview
A well-established civil defense litigation law firm, located in Los Angeles, CA, is currently seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle complex workers’ compensation cases, develop effective strategies, and represent clients in all stages of litigation. The position is available at either the downtown Los Angeles or Irvine office. As a recruiter for this firm, we are looking for a dedicated and qualified attorney to join their dynamic team.

Duties

  • Manage all aspects of workers' compensation defense litigation, including depositions and WCAB appearances.
  • Take responsibility for cases of varying levels of complexity.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and provide ongoing case updates.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the efficient resolution of cases.
  • Negotiate and settle cases, including liens and cases-in-chief.
  • Draft pleadings, reports, and other legal documents.
  • Depose applicants and medical professionals, including physicians.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in workers' compensation law, either on the defense or applicant side.
  • Strong understanding of WCAB procedures and California Workers’ Compensation laws.
  • Active California Bar License.
  • Experience with defending S&W, 132a, and/or subrogation claims is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Expertise in workers' compensation defense litigation.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to depose medical professionals.
