This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled attorney with a strong background in patent prosecution and a keen interest in working on cutting-edge intellectual property matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting patent applications and a technical degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the areas of mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex patent matters, providing litigation support when necessary.
  • Review and analyze patents, ensuring compliance with all necessary legal standards and regulations.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide strategic legal guidance.
  • Conduct patent searches and provide opinions regarding patentability, infringement, and validity.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, staying current with industry trends and patent law changes.

Requirements:

  • Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Strong background in drafting patent applications, particularly in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Admission to the Tennessee Bar is required.
  • Active registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A technical degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is required.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Tennessee Bar.
  • USPTO Registration.

Skills:

  • Patent prosecution expertise, with a focus on mechanical and electrical technologies.
