Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a dedicated Labor & Employment Attorney to join its expanding team. Based in Binghamton, NY, this role involves advising and representing clients on a broad spectrum of labor and employment issues, with opportunities to grow in both litigation and advisory capacities. The ideal candidate is committed to providing exceptional client service, upholding compliance, and furthering their expertise within the labor and employment field.

Duties:

  • Provide counsel to clients on various labor and employment law matters.
  • Research and analyze state and federal labor regulations and case law.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, memoranda, contracts, policies, and correspondence.
  • Represent employers in administrative hearings, including grievance arbitrations, employee discipline, and disability claims.
  • Defend employers in state and federal courts on issues including wage disputes, restrictive covenants, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower claims, and employment torts.
  • Lead or participate in collective bargaining negotiations, mediation sessions, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Represent employers in unfair labor practices before state and federal boards (e.g., NLRB, PERB).
  • Train supervisors and employees on HR compliance, and present at seminars and webinars related to labor and employment issues.
  • Contribute articles on labor and employment topics for newsletters.

Requirements:

  • Current admission to the New York State Bar.
  • At least 1 year of legal experience, preferably in labor and employment law.
  • Admission to NDNY, WDNY, SDNY, and EDNY is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to develop legal skills and expertise in labor and employment law.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and good-standing membership with the New York State Bar.
