A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a Mid-level Corporate Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in corporate restructuring and complex commercial bankruptcy. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, outstanding communication skills, and prior experience in finance transactions. This role involves managing restructuring and bankruptcy matters, advising clients, and working closely with senior attorneys and partners.

Job Duties:

  • Manage and oversee corporate restructuring and complex commercial bankruptcy cases.
  • Advise clients on bankruptcy and restructuring strategies, including Chapter 11 filings, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed asset transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate bankruptcy-related documents, including motions, disclosure statements, and reorganization plans.
  • Represent clients in Bankruptcy Court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in bankruptcy law and financial restructuring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm, including finance, litigation, and corporate departments.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients on restructuring and bankruptcy issues.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings and industry events.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar or ability to waive in promptly.
  • 3-5 years of corporate restructuring and complex commercial bankruptcy experience, which may include a Bankruptcy Court clerkship.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Prior experience in finance transactions is encouraged.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of bankruptcy law, including Chapter 11 proceedings.
  • Experience with distressed asset transactions and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar or ability to waive in promptly.
