Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a Lender Side Financing Associate for its Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience focusing on commercial real estate transactions, with significant experience in acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and development. The role requires a candidate with immediately transferable skills, a strong academic background, and experience in a large or mid-sized law firm environment.

Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Represent clients in commercial real estate financing transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and development
  • Draft and negotiate transaction documents related to real estate deals
  • Advise clients on commercial real estate matters, focusing on lender-side transactions
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic legal advice to clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet client needs and project goals
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and third parties
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met

Requirements:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in commercial real estate law, particularly in financing, acquisitions, and development
  • Experience with lender-side transactions and advising financial institutions or lenders
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and effectively prioritize competing demands
  • Good business judgment with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to influence and persuade clients and colleagues effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar in good standing

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate law, particularly financing and development
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and document review skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build client relationships
