A law firm in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a dedicated Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex criminal cases. This role involves substantial client interaction, case management, and collaboration with the firm’s Criminal Defense Team. The ideal candidate will bring significant criminal defense experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of criminal defense cases, including all aspects of client interaction and case management.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights, develop case strategies, and prepare necessary legal documents.
  • Represent clients at pretrial hearings and trials, providing strategic advice based on hearing outcomes.
  • Handle court appearances, draft motions, conduct witness interviews, and perform comprehensive legal research.
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using legal precedents and case law to guide strategy and client advice.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and develop effective case strategies.
  • Accumulate and present additional evidence to support client cases or challenge prosecution arguments.
  • Prepare clients for depositions, set case strategy goals, and gather information from witnesses and experts.
  • Collaborate with the Criminal Defense Team, including attorneys and legal assistants, to ensure thorough case handling.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Active admission to the State Bar (Arizona preferred, or willingness to obtain).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in criminal defense, with a proven track record in handling complex cases at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload effectively and work collaboratively with a legal team.

  • Proficiency in managing court appearances, drafting legal motions, and handling various aspects of criminal defense.
