A law firm in Tulsa is seeking an experienced Environmental Law Attorney to provide legal counsel and expertise on a broad spectrum of environmental issues. The role involves collaborating with clients to navigate complex regulatory and compliance matters, conducting in-depth research on environmental laws, and representing clients in litigation when necessary.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and expertise on a wide range of environmental issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to navigate complex regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of environmental laws, regulations, and precedents.
  • Assist clients in understanding and following local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Ensure clients obtain necessary permits and licenses for various environmental projects and activities.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence for transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, particularly long-term use and lease agreements related to environmental matters.
  • Interact with and manage environmental consulting firms and consulting experts, preparing and presenting environmental reports to corporate boards.
  • Participate in state and federal court litigation matters, administrative and legal proceedings, and mediations and arbitrations.
  • Regularly interact with local, regional, and national law firms and in-house counsel.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of full-time environmental law experience (private practice and multi-state experience preferred).
  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Oklahoma (or ability to obtain a license in Oklahoma).
  • Science, engineering, or other technical background preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma.

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience in environmental law, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and policy advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Excellent research, legal writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
  • Project management and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively, exercise good judgment, and operate with accuracy and integrity.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities and assignments.
