A law firm seeks a talented and dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team in Sacramento, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1 to 4 years of immigration law experience to contribute to a growing practice and gain valuable hands-on experience. The successful candidate will work alongside a dynamic legal team while managing a diverse caseload and building relationships with clients.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on immigration matters and provide strategic solutions based on their unique needs
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, including non-detained and detained individuals
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and resolution
  • Conduct intake interviews and provide counsel to detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including petitions for removal defense and family-based immigration
  • Review and revise immigration application packets to ensure compliance with legal standards
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration law changes
  • Meet with prospective clients to discuss their immigration needs and formulate strategic plans
  • Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court appearances
  • Analyze legal situations to identify case benefits or potential challenges
  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and other documentation for immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Experience in Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship matters, and other USCIS filings
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar (preferably in California)

  • In-depth understanding of immigration law and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused, fast-paced environment
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
