Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a motivated Civil Rights Associate Attorney to join its legal team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to advocate for individuals whose civil rights have been violated. The ideal candidate will possess litigation experience, a passion for civil rights advocacy, and an interest in shaping and advancing civil rights case law.

Location:

  • Spokane, WA

Duties:

  • Screen potential civil rights cases and conduct in-depth legal research to assess their merits

  • Participate in litigation from inception to resolution for civil rights cases

  • Draft and prepare pleadings, manage discovery, and research, write, and argue complex motions

  • Take and defend depositions and attend court appearances when necessary

  • Work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on case strategy and development

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a preference for civil rights or constitutional law and trial experience

  • Strong research and legal writing skills, particularly in complex motions and case law development

  • Experience handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals

  • A strong interest in civil rights advocacy and a passion for justice

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team of attorneys

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills

  • Expertise in civil rights or constitutional law

  • Experience with depositions, court hearings, and appeals

  • Ability to manage complex legal cases from start to finish

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
