Job Overview

A prominent law firm, dedicated to progressive causes, is seeking a talented Litigation Attorney with a passion for social change to join its team. This role involves litigating cases on matters related to voting rights, redistricting, the First Amendment, and other areas aligned with the firm’s mission to protect democracy. The firm’s litigation team is engaged in high-stakes cases at both the trial and appellate levels, including before the U.S. Supreme Court. Location

Duties

• Litigate complex cases involving voting rights, redistricting, and First Amendment issues.
• Manage cases from inception through to trial, including handling depositions, motions practice, and court appearances.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare comprehensive legal documents.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, providing guidance and direction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to develop legal strategies.
• Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all legal documents and filings.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with deadlines and litigation cycles that may require additional hours, especially around election dates or filing periods.

Requirements

• Significant experience in state or federal court litigation.
• Should have 4-9 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil procedure, federal rules of evidence, and motions practice.
• Proven ability to take and defend depositions, and manage significant litigation responsibilities.
• Experience in trial-level and appellate litigation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to progressive causes and the mission of the firm.
• Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and court appearances.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar membership in a U.S. state, with preference for candidates who are licensed in Washington, D.C. or Seattle.
