Job Overview:

A law firm in Charlotte, NC, seeks a dedicated Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in personal injury litigation and will work closely with the litigation team to support senior managing attorneys and guide the work of paralegals. The role involves drafting lawsuits, responding to discovery, depositing, and conducting mediations and trials.

Duties:

  • Draft lawsuits, discovery responses, and legal documents such as briefs, motions, and pleadings.
  • Take depositions and conduct mediations and trials.
  • Work closely with the litigation team to guide paralegals and support senior managing attorneys.
  • Determine case strategies and solutions to serve client's needs after thorough analysis.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action.
  • Perform legal research and draft briefs, pleadings, and motions.
  • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Personal Injury Litigation.
  • Proficiency in writing, research, and negotiation.
  • Experience with case management software and documentation.
  • Must be able to handle complex caseloads.
  • Must be an active member of the NC Bar Association.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in legal research programs like Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Superb negotiation skills and experience.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the North Carolina Bar Association.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis).
