Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
  • Manage post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and motions to reduce or terminate probation early.
  • Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice following each hearing.
  • Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other criminal attorneys within the firm.
  • Manage court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases based on knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Manage a workload of cases effectively.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits.
  • Collaborate with fellow associates, demonstrating teamwork and strategizing effectively.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
  • Criminal Defense or Immigration Law experience, with a strong preference for experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills of the highest caliber.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a legal team.
