Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Energy Litigation Partner to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in complex commercial litigation with a focus on the energy, oil and gas, or related sectors, as well as a portable book of business. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven partner to manage and grow an energy litigation portfolio while contributing to the development of junior associates and the expansion of the firm’s industry presence.

Location:

  • Columbus, OH

Duties:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of energy, oil and gas, and related industry litigation matters.
  • Represent clients in high-stakes, complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on industry-specific regulatory, environmental, contractual, and compliance issues.
  • Drive business development by leveraging existing relationships, identifying new opportunities, and expanding the firm's presence in the energy sector.
  • Collaborate with partners and practice groups to provide integrated, client-focused legal solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates, contributing to their professional development.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in complex litigation, focusing on energy, oil and gas, or related industries (e.g., utilities, renewables, natural resources).
  • A portable book of energy-related business ($500,000+).
  • Expertise in energy-related disputes, including commercial contracts, regulatory matters, environmental issues, and oil and gas law.
  • Proven track record of generating new business and maintaining client relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, analyze, and follow through on complex matters.
  • Strong desire to mentor and coach junior attorneys.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Texas and/or Ohio (or willingness to obtain licensure upon hire).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and arbitration skills.
  • Expertise in energy, oil and gas law, including regulatory, environmental, and commercial contract disputes.
  • Proven business development abilities.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior associates.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and e-discovery platforms.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
