Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Boston, MA is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-4 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science to handle complex patent litigation matters. They should possess extensive experience across all phases of patent litigation, including discovery, drafting pleadings, writing briefs, and preparing and arguing motions. Excellent academic credentials, relevant law firm experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Bar admission in Massachusetts (or eligibility for prompt admission) is required, with admission to practice before the USPTO preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee patent litigation cases from inception through trial.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis related to patent law and technical aspects of cases.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Participate actively in discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Conduct depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients on IP litigation matters.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, co-counsel, and internal teams.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• 3-4 years of experience practicing IP litigation at a law firm.
• Background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science preferred.
• Strong knowledge of patent law and litigation procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Superior analytical and research abilities.
• Admission to the Massachusetts State Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).
• Preferred admission to practice before the USPTO.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with PTAB proceedings and post-grant review processes.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
