Attorney needed for Saint Louis office

Job Overview: A law firm specializing in workers' compensation and general liability defense is seeking an Attorney to represent clients in Illinois and Missouri. The role involves defending cases, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and litigating cases before judges and arbitrators.

Job Duties:

• Defend workers' compensation and general liability cases in Illinois and Missouri.
• Gather medical evidence and records to support legal arguments.
• Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and other relevant parties.
• Conduct discovery procedures to gather case evidence.
• Perform thorough legal research and analysis.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Litigate cases before workers' compensation judges and arbitrators.
• Represent employers or insurers at hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations.
• Communicate effectively with claims representatives and clients.
• Assist in accident investigations and identify risk areas.
• Manage workers' compensation costs to minimize liability.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of insurance companies.

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of experience in workers' compensation and general liability defense preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Illinois.
• Proficient in legal research techniques and terminology.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
