A law firm in The Woodlands, TX, is seeking a Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, along with substantial experience in patent application preparation and prosecution. Expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking is essential. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.

Duties:

  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications, including drafting claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct technical analyses and evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, and computer networking.
  • Manage patent portfolios, including performing patentability assessments, prior art searches, and providing strategic guidance on patent matters.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop and execute effective patent strategies.
  • Review and interpret technical documents and patent filings to support legal arguments and application processes.
  • Provide technical and legal expertise on patent-related issues and intellectual property matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, legal teams, and technical professionals, both verbally and in writing.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with advancements in technology and changes in patent law.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Demonstrated experience with patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
