A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in complex commercial litigation. The ideal candidate should have strong research, writing, and advocacy skills, along with case management experience, including oral arguments, depositions, and discovery practice.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex commercial litigation matters from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Take the lead in oral arguments and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting depositions, and managing document reviews.
  • Collaborate with partners, clients, and opposing counsel to develop litigation strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar and in good standing, or eligible and actively pursuing admission.
  • 3-5 years of experience in complex commercial litigation.
  • Strong academic credentials with demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, and advocacy.
  • Experience with case management and the ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective courtroom advocacy skills and experience with oral arguments.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all work.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar, or eligibility and actively pursuing admission.
