A law firm based in Washington, D.C. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mid-Level Tax Controversy Associate Attorney to join their Tax group. The ideal candidate will possess strong tax controversy and litigation experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality work product and exceptional service to clients. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex tax disputes and contribute to a dynamic team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in tax controversies and disputes before the IRS and other governmental agencies.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for resolving tax disputes.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support client positions.
  • Handle discovery processes, including gathering and reviewing evidence.
  • Engage in negotiations and settlements with tax authorities.
  • Provide expert legal advice on tax matters, including compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Stay updated on tax law changes and developments to provide informed counsel.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of law firm experience with a focus on tax controversy and litigation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex tax disputes and controversies.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality legal work and provide exceptional client service.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Bar of Washington, D.C., or eligibility for admission.
