Job Overview:

A prominent Midtown law firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney. The candidate will represent clients in a range of immigration matters, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), Family Petitions, Adjustment of Status, Waivers, Asylum/Withholding of Removal/CAT, and Cancellation of Removal. The ideal applicant will have at least three years of immigration and litigation experience, with strong legal research and writing skills.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Represent clients in various immigration proceedings, including SIJS, Family Petitions, and Asylum cases.
  • Handle Adjustment of Status, Waivers, and Cancellation of Removal matters.
  • Prepare legal briefs, including BIA Briefs, Motions to Reopen/Terminate, and appellate briefs before the U.S. Court of Appeals.
  • Conduct individual hearings in immigration court.
  • Perform legal research and draft legal documents in support of client cases.
  • Manage a caseload with a high level of organization and independence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in immigration law and litigation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with asylum cases, Cancellation of Removal, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS).
  • Experience in handling individual hearings in immigration court.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Licensed to practice law in New York (NY Bar required), with a New Jersey Bar license being a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York (NY Bar required).
  • New Jersey Bar license is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex cases.
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are preferred.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and maintain client-focused service.
