A law firm seeks a highly experienced Immigration Attorney to establish and lead its new immigration law practice in Hartford, Connecticut. This role provides an exciting opportunity to develop and grow an immigration department within a well-respected firm. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in immigration law and a proven track record of handling a broad range of immigration matters. Duties

  • Lead the firm's immigration law department, providing strategic direction and oversight.
  • Handle a wide variety of immigration matters, including family-based immigration, employment visas, asylum cases, and deportation defense.
  • Advise clients on immigration law matters, guiding them through complex legal processes and requirements.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and appeals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the firm to ensure efficient case management and client service.
  • Represent clients in immigration court and before government agencies, including the USCIS and ICE.
  • Stay current on changes in immigration laws and regulations, ensuring that the firm’s practices remain compliant.
  • Manage client relationships, providing expert legal counsel and maintaining strong communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters understandably.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and organization in legal work.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of managing a team or department.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage a diverse caseload.
  • A client-focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Admitted to practice law in Connecticut.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Connecticut.
