Job Title: Patent Agent (Medical Devices)

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm, located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent to join their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the medical devices and bioengineering sectors. This role requires expertise in patent law, prior art searches, responding to office actions, and assisting in the preparation of legal opinions. A strong background in engineering or computer science, particularly within medical devices, AI, and bioengineering, is highly valued.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, ensuring adherence to legal and technical requirements
• Respond to office actions and client inquiries regarding patent law
• Conduct thorough prior art searches to support patent applications
• Assist in preparing legal opinions and providing technical analysis for patent portfolios
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop intellectual property strategies
• Support innovation in medical device technologies through patent law

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent
• Strong technical background in bioengineering, medical devices, mechanical engineering, AI, or computer science
• Proven experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications
• Proficiency in conducting prior art searches and responding to office actions
• Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioengineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Certifications:

• USPTO registration is required
