Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Litigation Attorney to represent clients in a variety of immigration-related litigation matters. This attorney will oversee the full process of cases, from intake to completion, in both district and appellate courts. The role includes defending cases under the Immigration and Nationality Act, managing complex litigation, attending USCIS interviews, and handling motions and appeals. Location:

Duties:

  • Case Management: Serve as the lead attorney overseeing a range of immigration litigation cases from intake to completion.
  • Client Representation: Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including Master and Individual hearings.
  • Court Appearances: Handle active cases in district and appellate courts, defending under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
  • USCIS Interviews: Attend various USCIS interviews, such as Adjustment of Status, Stokes, I-751, and Naturalization interviews.
  • Motions and Correspondence: Prepare and file motions, evidence, and other correspondence with the Immigration Court and the Office of the Chief Counsel.
  • Appeals: File Notices of Appeal and Appellate briefs with the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Petitions and Litigation: Research, draft legal petitions, and litigate Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions in New York Family Courts.
  • Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior associates and support staff, ensuring effective case management.
  • Reporting: Monitor case progress and report to partners on the status of cases handled by support personnel.

Requirements:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.
  • Licensing: Admitted to any State Bar (New York preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of immigration court complex litigation experience.
    • Experience in federal circuit courts (1st to 11th) is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional analytical, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Strong time management skills to handle a large docket of cases.

Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.
  • Admission to any State Bar (New York preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and litigation processes.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex cases effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting motions, and preparing for hearings.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor junior associates and staff.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
