Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated attorney with a strong litigation background and 1-2 years of experience to join its Chicago team. The ideal candidate will have a background in defense work, preferably within product liability, premises liability, and/or mass tort cases. This role involves representing clients in complex cases throughout Illinois and the potential to work on national litigation teams. Candidates should have a client-focused mindset, strong collaboration skills, and an eagerness to gain trial experience within a dedicated and successful litigation team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for trial by engaging in strategy discussions, discovery, and reviewing records.
  • Conduct both legal and factual research to support case arguments.
  • Draft and review briefs, memoranda, and client updates.
  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and mediations.
  • Collaborate closely with national counsel teams, particularly with colleagues in St. Louis and Detroit.
  • Work primarily in the Chicago Loop office and travel as required for case matters.

Requirements:

  • Active Illinois Bar License in good standing (Michigan or Missouri licenses preferred).
  • 1-2 years of litigation experience, including courtroom and deposition exposure.
  • Strong academic record with excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects with competing demands.
  • Client-focused attitude with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Participation in law review, moot court, or similar academic achievements is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active Illinois Bar License required.

  • Exceptional organizational abilities, with the capability to prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a collaborative team setting.
  • Technologically proficient, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
