A law firm in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a skilled Junior Associate Attorney with a strong background in employment law. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in both litigation and counseling, with a focus on advising employers, including early and mid-stage start-ups, on a variety of employment law issues. The role requires strong litigation skills, a good command of California state and local employment laws, and a business-minded approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise employers on various employment law issues, including wage/hour compliance, terminations, reductions in force, leaves of absence, workplace investigations, and worker classification assessments.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements and policies, including offer letters, employee handbooks, compensation plans, and separation agreements.
  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, handling both single-plaintiff and complex cases.
  • Conduct legal research and provide detailed analysis on employment law matters.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing employment policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
  • Stay informed about changes in California state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with clients to provide strategic legal advice and minimize legal risks.
  • Prepare and file legal documents, manage case deadlines, and represent clients in court appearances.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in employment law, encompassing both litigation and counseling.
  • Proven litigation skills with experience in handling single-plaintiff and complex employment cases.
  • In-depth knowledge of California state and local employment laws.
  • Demonstrated experience advising employers on employment law issues.
  • Strong aptitude for drafting and reviewing employment-related documents.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Must be a member of the California Bar.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of California (California Bar membership required).
