Immigration and Criminal Defense Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced and bilingual Immigration and Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Conroe, TX. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, handling both immigration and state criminal law matters. The position requires strong legal research and writing skills, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to providing excellent client service. Duties:

Immigration Law:

• Represent clients in court for Individual Hearings, Removal Proceedings, Bond Hearings, and Cancellation of Removal Proceedings
• Handle Adjustment of Status cases and submit BIA Appeals
• Draft and file Motions to Reopen/Reconsider
• Maintain clear communication with clients regarding case processing and procedural updates

Criminal Defense:

• Represent clients in criminal court, handling arraignments, hearings, and trials
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft motions, briefs, and appeals
• Maintain consistent client communication, keeping clients informed of case progress
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors
• Review discovery materials, police reports, and other case evidence
• Coordinate with court personnel and manage court dates and appointments

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years of experience in immigration and/or state criminal law
• Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (required)
• Excellent legal writing and research skills with attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases efficiently
• Reliable transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License
• Willingness to travel for court appearances and client meetings

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Texas Bar license, in good standing

Skills:

• Strong litigation and legal research skills
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency is required
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Location:

• Conroe, TX (In-person position, with potential travel to Houston office as needed)
