Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic legal team in New York City, NY. This position offers the opportunity to handle diverse litigation matters, work closely with senior attorneys, and engage directly with clients. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in litigation, preferably with experience in employment law, and a strong commitment to high-quality legal work. This role involves substantial responsibility in a collegial, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research and factual investigations to support case strategy and client objectives.
• Draft a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, position statements, demand letters, responsive submissions, mediation statements, and settlement agreements.
• Manage the discovery process, including processing and organizing document requests and responses, handling third-party discovery, and managing e-discovery tools.
• Take and defend depositions, handle discovery disputes, and engage in motion practice.
• Conduct client intake and case analysis, including interviewing witnesses and gathering information.
• Prepare, review, and update legal handbooks and other compliance materials.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and stay current on legal and industry trends.
• Delegate tasks effectively to junior associates and support staff.
• Participate in client development and marketing initiatives for the firm.
• Handle court appearances, mediations, and other forms of oral advocacy.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
• 2-8 years of experience as a litigation associate, with a preference for experience in employment law.
• Exposure to corporate, intellectual property, and/or entertainment law is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent legal research and factual investigation skills, with the ability to present findings to advance client goals.
• Strong drafting abilities, producing accurate and high-quality first drafts of legal documents.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Familiarity with e-discovery tools, legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw), and billing software.
• Competence in organizing and managing document requests, responses, and third-party discovery.
• Experience with court appearances, mediations, depositions, and other oral advocacy.

Preferred Skills

• Interest and ability in client development and firm marketing.
• Experience in taking the initiative to assume significant responsibility within a team-oriented setting.
