This role is essential in helping injured clients and their families navigate the complexities of personal injury law. The attorney will manage a wide range of cases, including negotiations, record reviews, depositions, hearings, and trials, ensuring that clients receive the justice and compensation they deserve. The ideal candidate will be client-focused, team-oriented, and passionate about advocating for injured individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in personal injury cases, including settlement negotiations, hearings, and trials.
  • Conduct thorough case reviews, including medical and legal record analysis, to prepare strong cases for litigation.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
  • Lead and manage depositions and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony.
  • Attend court hearings and represent clients at trial when necessary.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel to secure fair compensation for clients.
  • Conduct legal research to support litigation strategies and case preparation.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and discussing case progress.
  • Collaborate with medical experts and other professionals to strengthen client cases.
  • Manage a personal injury caseload, ensuring timely filing of documents and compliance with court deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or North Dakota.
  • Experience in personal injury law or related litigation experience.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office in Cedar Rapids, IA, and travel as needed for client meetings.
  • Previous experience working in a professional office environment, demonstrating strong client relations and legal case management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Experience conducting depositions, hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.

Certifications and Skills:

  • Bar admission in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or North Dakota.
