Job Overview

A distinguished law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced Class Action Litigation Associate to join its team. This role involves handling complex class action cases, including consumer protection and product liability matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, expertise in class certification and settlement negotiations, and a passion for achieving justice on behalf of clients.

Duties

  • Manage and litigate class action cases from initiation to resolution.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Draft and argue motions, including class certification, Daubert, and summary judgment motions.
  • Oversee discovery, including drafting and responding to requests, reviewing documents, and coordinating with experts.
  • Take and defend depositions of class representatives, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, class members, and expert witnesses throughout the litigation process.
  • Collaborate with a legal team to develop case strategies and ensure efficient case management.
  • Handle multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced legal environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in complex litigation, with a focus on class actions, mass torts, or large-scale legal disputes.
  • Strong knowledge of class action laws, rules, and procedures.
  • Experience managing class certification, settlement negotiations, and client communications.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a legal team effectively.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and adapt litigation strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent courtroom presence and oral advocacy skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic record preferred.

Certifications

  • Active law license in good standing with the relevant state bar.
