Job Overview

A fast-growing plaintiffs' law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Personal Injury Attorney to join its expanding Auto Accident Personal Injury Division in Chicago, Illinois. This is a full-time role that involves managing auto accident personal injury cases from start to finish, working closely with clients, expert witnesses, and legal teams, while mentoring junior attorneys and support staff. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in personal injury law, particularly in high-volume auto accident cases, and will be comfortable thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Manage personal injury case files from start to finish, ensuring timely progress and resolution.
  • Evaluate potential personal injury claims and provide legal advice to prospective clients.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents such as claims, motions, discovery responses, demand letters, pleadings, and subpoenas.
  • Conduct legal research on case law, premises liability, and gather necessary evidence, including insurance policies and medical records.
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, and medical providers to gather and assess case information.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients when appropriate, ensuring favorable outcomes.
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Maintain and update case files in the case management system.
  • Manage and mentor a team of associate attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, providing training, conducting quality audits, and ensuring excellent client service.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar.
  • 5-10 years of experience in personal injury law, with a strong focus on auto accident cases.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work under pressure.
  • Strong client-facing experience, with excellent communication skills.
  • Case management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience in depositions, hearings, and mediations is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with PACER and Excel is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar.
