A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an Employment and Labor Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in employment counseling, particularly related to statutory and regulatory compliance, executive employment and separation agreements, and employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). A strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Some litigation experience is a plus. Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on employment law matters, including statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and negotiate executive employment agreements and separation agreements.
  • Provide counsel on employment dimensions of M&A transactions, including due diligence and post-merger integration.
  • Assist with day-to-day advice and counsel for clients on employment issues, such as workplace policies, terminations, employee classifications, and more.
  • Work closely with the team to deliver timely and strategic legal advice to clients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on developments in employment law and regulations, advising clients on how to navigate these changes.
  • Potentially handle some litigation matters related to employment disputes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on employment counseling.
    • Experience advising on statutory and regulatory compliance, executive agreements, and employment issues related to M&A.
    • Some litigation experience is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong academic credentials with excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Client-focused approach with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the DC Bar, or eligibility for admission.

Skills & Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of employment law, including federal and state statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating employment agreements and separation agreements.
  • Familiarity with the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced workload with a collaborative and supportive team approach.
